Bratislava Airport (IATA: BTS) is officially called M. R. Štefánik Airport, in Slovak Letisko M. R. Štefánika. However the airport is internationally known as Bratislava Airport, also people in Slovakia call it simply Letisko Bratislava or Bratislava-Ivanka. Bratislava Airport is located 8 km (5.2 mi) from Bratislava, the capital of Slovak Republic. Since 1993 it has been named after general Milan Rastislav Štefánik, whose aircraft crashed near Bratislava in 1919.
